Penguins

-The Penguins will hold a series of events to officially open Consol Energy Center (above).
-The team's store is officially open in the new building.
-Capitals owner Ted Leonsis discusses the Winter Classic and his team's season ticket holders.
-The Wheeling Nailers signed defenseman Mike Gershon.
-Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Chris Lee joined the Cologne Sharks in Germany.
Atlantic Division
-The Islanders re-signed unrestricted free agent forward Jon Sim, a former Penguin, to a one-year, two-way contract.
-Former Penguins forward Bryan Trottier (right) discussed his future with the Islanders' front office.
-Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger underwent arthoscopic surgery on his right knee.
-The Devils will wear their retro "Christmas" jerseys March 18 against the Capitals.
Northeast Division
-The Bruins signed forward Tyler Seguin, the No. 2 overall pick in this summer's draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract worth a total of $3.55 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $900,000.
-Sabres forward Tim Kennedy cleared waivers and was bought out.
Southeast Division
-The Panthers signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Mike Weaver (right), formerly of the Blues, to a two-year contract worth a total of $1.8 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $900,000.
-Florida also acquired defenseman T.J. Fast from St. Louis in exchange for forward Graham Mink.
-It was a busy day for the Panthers. They also signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Joe Callahan, formerly of the Sharks. Terms of the deal were not released.
-Former Penguins goaltending prospect Bobby Goepfert signed with the Charlotte Checkers, the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate.
-The Capitals renewed their affiliation agreement with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.
Central Division
-The Blackhawks signed forward Igor Makarov, a second-round pick in 2006, to a two-year entry-level contract.
-Former Canucks/Islanders/Bruins/Coyotes/Predators forward Dave Scatchard (right) signed with the Peoria Rivermen, the Blues' AHL affiliate.
Northwest Division
-The Canucks fired assistant coach Ryan Walter, replaced him with Newell Brown and re-assigned associate coach Rick Bowness and assistant coach Darryl Williams.
-The Oilers renewed their affiliation agreement with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL.
Pacific Division
-The Ducks signed forward Kyle Palmieri, a first-round pick in 2009, to a three-year entry-level contract.
-According to the team's Web site, the Sharks are on the verge of signing unrestricted free agent forward Jamal Mayers, formerly of the Flames.
Adams Division
-Today would've been the 89th birthday of Canadiens legend Maurice "Rocket" Richard.
