Penguins

-Ray Shero (rightisn't going to see too much sun light over the next few days.

-The Penguins' prospect camp will be held July 12-19 at Iceoplex in Southpointe.

-Former Penguins defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski has joined SC Bern in Germany.

-Happy 43rd birthday to former Penguins forward Mike Eastwood. A free agent signing in the 2003 offseason, Eastwood spent one season with the Penguins. In 2003-04, he appeared in all 82 of the team's games and recorded 19 points. He retired in 2004 and currently works as a radio broadcaster with the Senators.

Atlantic Division

-The Flyers re-signed unrestricted free agent goaltender Michael Leighton to a two-year deal with an annual salary cap hit of $1.55 million.

-The Devils re-signed unrestricted free agent forward David Clarkson to a three-year deal with an annual salary cap hit of $2.66 million.

-New Jersey put forwards Jay Pandolfo and Andrew Peters on waivers.

-Pandolfo asked team overlord Lou Lamoriello to put him on waivers.

-The Devils re-signed forward Tim Sestito to a one-year, two-way contract.

Northeast Division

-The Maple Leafs acquired forwards Kris Versteeg (right) and Bill Sweatt from the Blackhawks in exchange for forwards Viktor Stalberg, Chris DiDomenico and Philippe Paradis.

-Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Van Ryn, who has not played since 2009, is expected to miss all of 2010-11 due to recurring knee problems.

Southeast Division

-Former Hurricanes captain Rod Brind'Amour announced his retirement after 21 seasons.

-Brind'Amour will remain with the Hurricanes in a front office position.

-Carolina re-signed defenseman Zack Fitzgerald to a one-year, two-way contract.

-The Thrashers re-signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Noah Welch to a one-year, two-way contract. Welch is a former Penguin.

-The Panthers bought out the final year of defenseman Ville Koistinen's contract.

-The Lightning bought out the final year of forward Todd Fedoruk's (right) contract.

Central Division

-The Blue Jackets claimed forward Ethan Moreau off waivers from the Oilers. Moreau was Edmonton's captain.

Northwest Division

-The Wild re-signed restricted free agent forward Guillame Latendresse to a two-year contract with an annual salary cap hit of $2.5 million.

-Minnesota re-signed defenseman Nate Prosser (one-year) and forward Matt Kassian (two-year) to two-way contracts.

-The Flames put forward Nigel Dawes on waivers.

-The Oilers acquired defenseman Jim Vandermeer from the Coyotes in exchange for forward Patrick O'Sullivan. The Coyotes then bought out O'Sullivan's contract and made him an unrestricted free agent.

-Edmonton bought out the final year of forward Robert Nilsson's contract.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks re-signed restricted free agent goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur to a one-year contract extension.

-Anaheim acquired forward Jason Jaffray from the Flames in exchange for forward Logan MacMillan. MacMillan was a first-round pick in 2007.

-The Ducks bought out the contract of defenseman Nathan Oystrick.

-The Coyotes re-signed defenseman Sami Lepisto to a one-year deal worth $800,000.

-Doug Moss was fired as the Coyotes' president. Mike Nealy was promoted as his replacement.

-The Stars re-signed forward Francis Wathier to a two-year, two-way deal.

Adams Division

-Happy 74th birthday to former Pittsburgh Hornets forward Claude Laforge (right).
