Blackhawks claim Game 1, 6-5 - 05-29-10

So much for goaltending being the most important part of a Stanley Cup championship.
Troy Brouwer had two goals and an assist for the Blackhawks in wild 6-5 win against the Flyers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Tomas Kopecky, inserted into the lineup in place of injured forward Andrew Ladd, scored the only goal in the third period which proved to be the game-winner. Antti Niemi (above) was shaky, but make a few key stops in the third period in a 28-save performance.
Blackhawks stars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were each held without a point and were each a minus-3.
Daniel Briere led the Flyers with a goal and three assists while teammate Scott Hartnell added a goal and two assists. Goaltender Michael Leighton was pulled late in the second period after giving up five goals on 20 shots. He was replaced by Brian Boucher who gave up Kopecky's goal 8:25 into the third.
Game 2 is Monday night at 8 p.m.
