The Penguins' will open their season against the defending Eastern Conference champion Flyers

The NHL will open the North American portion of its schedule with a Versus doubleheader Oct. 7. The Penguins will meet the rival Flyers.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the game will be the first regular season contest at Consol Energy Center.
