Five minor deals

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Avalanche has signed defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist to a one-year deal.

EN Says: After losing Jeff Finger and Kurt Sauer to free agency, the Avalanche needs some warm bodies on defense. That's pretty much what Tjarnqvist is.

The Flames signed Flames defenseman David Hale to a two-year deal.

EN Says: Similar circumstances as the Avalanche. After losing Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton in the Olli Jokinen trade, the Coyotes need some depth on the blue line. Hale is a former first-round draft pick who has never really ever gotten it together. Perhaps he can get a fresh start in the desert.

The Blues have re-signed forward Yan Stastny to a two-year deal.

EN Says: If they had signed his brother or his father or one of his uncles, we'd be excited.

Flyers defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick has joined the Panthers.

EN Says: Looks like the Panthers have their all-star representative.

The Lightning signed Avalanche forward Wyatt Smith to a one-year, two-way deal.

EN Says: Organizational depth.
