Penguins re-sign Taffe

The Penguins re-signed forward Jeff Taffe to a one-year deal. The team also re-signed Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Jonathan Filewich to a two-year deal and defenseman Paul Bissonnette to a one-year deal.

EN Says: We really like the Taffe deal. He was a guy who was put into the lineup when injuries hit and he showed he was capable of filling all sorts of roles on the team. He played regular minutes on the third- and fourth-lines, took the occasional faceoff and got a lot of time on the second power-play unit. Taffe's not a guy who will make or break anyone's roster, but he's certainly a quality role player.

Filewich is a guy who will get a look at as a fourth-liner with the NHL Penguins. He's shown an ability to score at the AHL level and he plays a fairly physical style.

Bissonnette is a physical defenseman who is more than willing to drop the gloves. It's hard to see him cracking the NHL Penguins this season given the depth on the blue line within the organization.
