Another example of the NHL's spectacular customer service - 10-30-08

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

We're recent subscribers to Gamecenter Live, the NHL's new online version of its Center Ice package. We've been happy with it for the most part.

We logged on tonight to enjoy a pretty full slate of 12 games.

But this is what we were greeted with:

We called the league's customer service hotline to figure out what the problem was. Turns out the free preview they gave tonight for the product has bascially swamped their servers. So if you're a paying customer, like us, you're paying $159 for a white screen while others are enjoying your product for free.

For a league that endlessly brags about how savy it is when it comes to new media, this is a complete embarrassment.

Yes, we realize the irony in complaining about someone else's bandwith considering the recent problems with EN, but EN is a free product. Gamecenter Live isn't.

@&*#$@*$@#*#@%$@#!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: The service appears to be up and running again as of 10:15 p.m.
