Some good news on the injury front as Penguins defenseman Philippe Boucher is expected to return to the line up tonight against the Islanders and will replace Ben Lovejoy who was demoted to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
Due to an undisclosed injury, Boucher hasn't played since a 4-3 loss in Buffalo Nov. 28.
Lovejoy played two games with the NHL Penguins totalling over 23 minutes of ice time combined. He recorded no points, had an even plus/minus rating and recorded one shot.
EN Says: Obviously any player getting healthy on this team is good news. Boucher's return will, hopefully for the Penguins, help out on the struggling power play.
We liked what we saw out of Lovejoy in his brief stint. You have to think his "audition" will make it easier for Ray Shero to part with the likes of unrestricted-free-agents-to-be Hal Gill, Rob Scuderi or Boucher come the trade deadline (Assuming Ryan Whitney and Sergei Gonchar are back in the lineup by then).
-Islanders forward and former Penguins forward Jon Sim cleared waivers and will be a scratch tonight.
-The Islanders will dress yeti/goon Mitch Fritz (6-foot-8, 258 pounds). He had a pretty good tilt with Eric Godard Nov. 26:
