Central Division

-Shootout goals by Rick Nash and Jake Voracek gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 win against their rivals, the Predators.

-Columus defenseman Mike Commodore has some good timing.

-Despite the success of Cristobal Huet (right), Nikolai Khabibulin will remain the Blackhawk's top goaltender now that he's recovered from a "lower-body" injury.

-Chicago demoted forward Pascal Pelletier and defenseman James Wisniewski to Rockford of the AHL.

-The Predators recalled forward Ryan Jones from Milwaukee of the AHL.

-Blues goaltender Manny Legace was officially diagnosed with a concussion. With Legace dinged up, St. Louis recalled goaltender Ben Bishop from Peorioa of the AHL.

-Given the world's economic crisis, did Marian Hossa cost himself a huge payday by taking a one-year deal with Detroit?

-The Red Wings will start their own version of a student rush.

-Dan Rosenbloom of the Chicago Tribune says free agent center Mats Sundin would be a bad fit because he's never won a championship.

-Uh...

-Sundin (above, left with Peter Forsberg) was the captain of Sweden's gold medal team in the 2006 Olympics.

Northwest Division

-Colorado defenseman Adam Foote is ready to return from neck and knee injuries while forward Marek Svatos is dealing with a back ailment.

-The Avalanche recaleld forward Philippe Dupuis from Lake Erie of the AHL.

-Canucks forward Kyle Wellwood hopes his former teammate in Toronto, Mats Sundin, re-joins him in Vancouver.

-Day eight of the Canucks' tribute to former captain Trevor Linden:

Pacific Division

-Dustin Brown's first career hat trick lifted the Kings to a 6-2 rout of the Blues. Teammate Anze Kopitar added two goals and an assist.

-Evgeni Nabokov made 31 saves and led the Sharks to a 2-0 shutout of the rival Ducks. Patrick Marleau contributed a goal and an assist.

-Anaheim's George Parros had a pretty good tilt with San Jose's Jody Shelley:

-Steven Reinprecht's two assists helped the Coyotes beat the Wild, 3-1. Ilya Bryzgalov made 30 saves in the win.

-The Stars' season keeps finding a new level of hell. Former Penguins defenseman Sergei Zubov was put on injured reserve due to a hip injury while defenseman Dan Jancevski was recalled from Hamilton of the AHL.

-Do not allow Coyotes assistant coach and former Penguins defenseman Ulf Samuelsson under your hood.

-San Jose forward Jeremy Roenick is dealing with a shoulder injury.
