In addition today's big trade, the Penguins made a few minor in house moves. They recalled forward Tim Wallace (right) from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL and demoted forward Janne Pesonen. The team also put forward Chris Minard on waivers with the intent of demoting him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Wallace has two points, both assists, in 13 games with the NHL Penguins this season and is a plus two.
Pesonen has recorded no points in seven NHL games this season and is a minus-3.
Minard has appeared in 20 games this season and has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and has an even plus/minus.
EN Says: Wallace seemed to bring more to the team in his brief call up this season than either Minard or Pesonen. We'd rather see him and his energy on the roster. That said, no one out of this trio is going to make or break the roster.
UPDATE: Ryan Whitney's absence from last night's game was legit. According to ESPN.com, his mother underwent brain surgery to have a tumor removed. Quite a 24 hours for him.
