Satan to replace Sykora - 4-23-09

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

Forward Miroslav Satan (above) will replace Petr Sykora in the Penguins lineup tonight. Sykora, believed to be dealing with an injury, has only two goals in his last 21 games. Satan has not appeared in a game with the NHL Penguins since March 3. He was demoted to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton following the trade deadline in a salary cap move. He was recalled late in the regular season. According to Dave Molinari's article, Satan skated on the fourth line with Maxime Talbot and Craig Adams while Pascal Dupuis was promoted to the second line with Evgeni Malkin and Ruslan Fedotenko.

Additionally, the Penguins could insert defenseman Philippe Boucher for Kris Letang who is thought to be dealing with an injury. That will be a game-time decision.

EN Says: Satan for Sykora an intriguing move but it won't make or break the team. Satan is expected to man the fourth line so he won't get many chances to impact the game.

As far as Sykora goes, he's a significant player for the Penguins. He led the team with 10 game-winning goals this season. They need him to be healthy. If the Penguins can pull out a win tonight, they'll have a little down time before the second round starts. He can get healthy and hopefully get back into game shape.
