Canucks sign Raycroft - 7-6-09

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Canucks have signed former Avalanche goaltender Andrew Raycroft. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Last season, Raycroft had a 12-16-0 record with a 3.14 goals against average and .892 save percentage.

EN Says: Being Roberto Luongo's backup brings a pretty light workload generally. Granted, Luongo missed significant time due to a groin injury last season, but that's likely the exeception to the rule.

Luongo should play over 70 games again next season and Raycroft won't be asked to do much.

But if the Canucks do need to rely on Andrew Raycroft for any stretch of time, the playoffs could be in jeopardy.
