Penguins
-Schedule note: The Penguins' game in Carolina originally scheduled for Oct. 15 has been pushed forward to Oct. 14 due to North Carolina State Fair.
-Over the past two seasons, the Penguins have played by far and away the most games in the Eastern Conference.
-It's just Rob Scuderi day here on Empty Netters. He did his thing on Long Island with the Stanley Cup. Pittsburgh Sports and Mini Ponies has the pictures.

-The scoreboard at Consol Energy Center is going to cost slightly less than the annual salary cap hits for Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
-Mario Lemieux and Ben Roethlisberger are tied for 32nd at the American Century Championship golf tournament. Former Penguins Pierre Larouche and Dan Quinn are tied for fifth.
Atlantic Division
-The Devils signed former Lightning defenseman Cory Murphy to a two-way contract. Terms were not disclosed.

Northeast Division
-The Senators still haven't ruled out dealing forward Dany Heatley (right) to the Oilers for forwards Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and defenseman Ladislav Smid.
-Heatley sort of broke his silence and sort of talked to a local reporter in his offseason hometown of West Kelowna, B.C.
-Former Canadiens tough guy Chris "Knuckles" Nilan was busted for trying to steal a pair of swim trunks.
Southeast Division
-The Thrashers signed restricted free agent defenseman Scott Lehman, Grant Lewis and former Maple Leafs forward Tim Stapleton.
-Lightning owner and former Penguins forward Len Barrie came up with the $10 million Gary Bettman told him to find.
-Capitals prospect Anton Gustafsson suffered a concussion during development camp this week.

Central Division
-Much like us in 10th grade, Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash (right) is a Hootie and the Blowfish fan.
-At this rate, new Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa might have the entire world hating him by March.
-Blackhawks executive and former Penguins coach Scotty Bowman denied suggestions he had a role in his son, Stan Bowman, replacing Dale Tallon as Chicago's general manager.
Northwest Division
-The WIld signed former Blue Jackets goaltender Wade Dubielewicz to a one-year contract. The team also signed forward Duncan Miloy and Jon DiSalvatore to one-year two-way contracts.
-The Flames acquired defenseman Keith Seabrook from the Capitals for future considerations. He is the brother of Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook.
Pacific Division

-The Kings re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Jack Johnson to a two-year deal. His contract has an annual cap hit of $1.425 million.
-A year after turning down Saku Koivu's suggestions that he sign with the Canadiens, Teemu Selanne (right) convinced his friend to sign with the Ducks.
-The Sharks named Matt Shaw as an assistant coach. He replaces former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins coach Todd Richards who became the Wild's head coach.
Adams Division
-The NHLPA has recommended to its members that they skip on-ice camp activities at Olympic orientations due to insurance concerns.
-Are we the only ones who find it ironic that BlackBerry is getting some advertising in NHL 10?
-The 10 Winter Classic match-ups that need to happen.
