Why you'll watch - December - 7-22-09
Something we've done the past two offseasons is examine the recently revealed schedule, and just in case you needed a little bit more enticement to watch a team like the Penguins, come up with reasons to watch all 82 games on the slate.
So without any further delay, here's why you'll be watching in December.
Dec. 3 - vs. Avalanche - This might be the closest you'll ever get to seeing that old "Milan Hejduk-on-Crosby's-wing" rumor from to fruition:
Dec. 5 - vs. Blackhawks - Marian Hossa used to play for the Penguins Red Wings:
Dec. 7 - vs. Hurricanes - Maybe we'll all get to see Evgeni Malkin's parents make out again:
Dec. 10 - at Canadiens - Because Eric Godard and Georges Laraque probably want to put out a better effort than this:
Dec. 12 - vs. Panthers - Chances are, if Cory Stillman is playing in a game against the Penguins, he'll score:
Dec. 15 - vs. Flyers - Hopefully, for the purposes of amusement, the Penguins can re-sign forward Nils Ekman to a one-game contract and he can have a re-match with Chris Pronger:
Dec. 17 - at Flyers - Chris Kunitz, Kimmo Timonen. Kimmo Timonen, Chris Kunitz:
Dec. 19 - at Sabres - Alex Goligoski finest game as an NHLer came in a December game in Buffalo last season:
Dec. 21 - vs. Devils - Maybe Jay McKee can do what Rob Scuderi did to Dainius Zubrus:
Dec. 23 - vs. Senators - Chanting "Ruuuuu....." just doesn't feel that good these days:
Dec. 27 - vs. Maple Leafs - Because Christian Hanson is the offspring of one of the Hanson Brothers and he's from Pittsburgh (Venetia actually):
Dec. 29 - at Sabres - Because well... the weather in Western New York in December never impacts travel right? So why not go there twice in one month?
Dec. 30 - at Devils - We'll be honest, with the return of Jacques Lemaire, we're really running out of reasons to tell you to watch this team. So here's a clip of Bill Guerin scoring a pretty sweet goal for the Devils during the 1997-98 season and offering perhaps the lamest "raise the roof" celebration ever:
