Penguins

-Chris Kunitz (above) did his thing with the Stanley Cup in Regina, Sask. yesterday.

-Kunitz's appearance with the Cup raised $4,000 for the Allan Blair Cancer Centre.

-Marc-Andre Fleury did his thing with the Cup Thursday in Sorel, Quebec.

-The Penguins are looking for a secondary public address announcer. (Kudos to Sean's Ramblings for the heads up.)

-Nationals outfielder and former Pirate Nyjer Morgan hates Sidney Crosby.

-The Wheeling Nailers need a new mascot.

-This might be the most obscure Penguins-related item we've ever posted on EN. Frank Salive, the Penguins' 10th-round draft pick in 1975, was named the new announcer at Pampano Park, a horse-racing track in Florida. Salive is known as "the voice of Canadian racing."

-Salive was chosen 41 picks before future all-star Kings forward Dave Taylor.

-Fire Wren Blair.

-Happy 44th birthday to former Penguins defenseman and funny man Marc Bergevin.

-In honor of Bergevin, here's a clip of him throwing a puck into his own net during the 2000 playoffs while with the Blues:

Northeast Division

-Former Sharks forward Mike Grier is returning to Buffalo. He re-signed with the Sabres for one year.

-The Maple Leafs signed former Islanders goaltender Joey MacDonald to a one-year deal.

-The Canadiens re-signed forward Gregory Stewart to a one-year deal.

-Bruins forward prospect Jordan Caron, the team's first-round draft pick earlier this summer, suffered a broken collar bone while trying out for Canada's team for the World Junior Championships.

-This is how Caron broke his collar bone:

-Colten Teubert is a Kings prospect.

-A lot of Senators fans want to their team to adopt the "O" style jersey the original Senators team wore.

Southeast Division

-This would have never happened if the team had stayed in Hartford. The Hurricanes and a Raleigh rapper are suiting each other over usage of the team's image.

Central Division

-The attorney for Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (right) claims his client has committed not crime. Kane and a cousin are accused of assaulting a cab driver in Buffalo.

-The lawyer for the attorney Kane allegedly assaulted claims the incident has been overblown.

-Regardless of the outcome of this ordeal, has Kane's reputation been ruined?

-You knew it was only a matter of time before this came up. We just figured it would take more than a day. Someone's already selling t-shirts making fun of Kane's troubles.

-The Predators re-signed restricted free agent forward Ryan Jones to a two-year deal worth $975,000 per season.

Northwest Division

-The Canucks renewed their affliation agreement with the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks officially acquired goaltender Justin Pogge from the Maple Leafs in a trade for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2011.

-Former Sharks (and Mighty Ducks, Devils, Capitals and Flames) forward Jeff Friesen has signed with Eisbaren Berlin in Germany.

-Would-be Coyotes, Predators and Penguins owner Jim Balsillie wants to know why no one likes him.
