This sewing machine is in the best shape of its life - 9-10-09

One of the amazing things about this job is the e-mails. We get notes from readers on all sorts of subjects. Some folks want to know where they can watch Penguins games in Finland at 2:30 a.m. Others find us information on how to buy Panthers tickets.

Then some days, you get a picture of Mario Lemieux in a curduroy jacket with whats looks like a snifter of brandy and an autographed sewing machine:

In response to our little post about the Penguins' sewing machine yesterday, we were sent this note about the "official" Penguins sewing machine:

"This is the true official sewing machine of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bernina Model 66 autographed by Mario Lemieux. It was auctioned for a fundraising event for the Junior Penguins last year. There will be another one auctioned this year.
