Penguins

-Tyler Kennedy (above) is getting a chance to replace Maxime Talbot.

-Prospect Nick Johnson has a lot of positive elements to his games. He's just not consistent.

-The Penguins have hired Ryan Mill to fill in for John Barbero as public address announcer. Barbero is dealing with a medical condition.

-Forward Zach Sill is trying to make an impression on Penguins management.

-Kings defenseman and former Penguin Rob Scuderi skipped the Penguins visit to the White House. He opted to take his daughter to Disneyland for her birthday.

-The Wheeling Nailers have put single-game tickets on sale.

-Happy 59th birthday to former Penguins forward Orest Kindrachuk (right). He served as the team's captain for parts of three seasons from 1978 through 1981 and owned arguably the greatest porn 'stache in franchise history.

Atlantic Division

-It looks like new Rangers forward Marian Gaborik's injury is groin related. Shocking huh?

-The Rangers have invited former Penguins forward Dan LaCouture to training camp as a non-roster invitee. LaCouture spent last season with the Hurricanes organization and Barys Astana of the KHL.

-The Penguins weren't the only team in Pennsylvania to have a big crowd show up for the first day of training camp.

-The Flyers are hoping former Rangers forward Blair Betts can help them in the faceoff circle.

-Flyers owner Ed Snider still thinks it is 1975.

Northeast Division

-The Sabres re-signed restricted free agent forward Drew Stafford to a two-year contract worth a total of $3.8 million.

-Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller has finally healed from a high-ankle sprain.

-Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson (right) says his team is better now with Dany Heatley gone.

-Assumming the Bruins lose forward Phil Kessel, Blake Wheeler will be a guy they look at to replace his offense.

-Forward Jason Allison faces some long odds if he wants to make the Maple Leafs' roster.

-Former Penguins forward and Fox Chapel native Bill Thomas is in the Maple Leafs' training camp on a tryout basis.

Southeast Division

-Capitals forward Tomas Fleischman is dealing with a blood clot in his leg.

-Thrashers goaltender Kari Lehtonen is still recovering from offseason back surgery.

Central Division

-The Red Wings will put defenseman Andreas Lilja on long-term injured reserve due to a concussion. The move will clear $1.2 million off their salary cap.

-Predators forward Steve Sullivan (right) is going through his first training camp since 2007.

-Country music singer Taylor Swift debuted the the Predators' new third jersey. No word yet if Kanye West offered his opinion on it.

-The Blue Jackets increased their season ticket sales for the first time since the 2001-02 season.

-Cristobal Huet finally has a chance to be the Blackhawks' clear-cut No. 1 goaltender.

Northwest Division

-New Avalanche coach Joe Sacco wants his team to be tougher.

-Colorado goaltender Craig Anderson is finally getting a chance to be a No. 1 goaltender.

-"Guys have come in here this year in good shape and maybe with a little less of a sense of entitlement." - Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray on his team which has not made the playoffs for three consecutive seasons.

Pacific Division

-Kings forward Jarret Stoll (right) is dealing with an arthritic wrist.

-Coyotes forward Taylor Pyatt is getting a fresh start in Phoenix.
