Day 1 extras - 9-14-09
A few extra pictures and videos from yesterday's practice.
-Check out this nifty goal Ruslan Fedotenko and Tyler Kennedy hooked up on (35-second mark):
(We assume most teams will have defensemen on the ice during the regular season so it might be a little difficult to pull that one off.)
-EN commenter Missdaburgh sent in this clip of Sidney Crosby and Alex Goligoski mixing it up down low:
-Marc-Andre Fleury is popular and has some new gear:
-Here's a better look at Fleury's new pads:

-Pascal Dupuis was kidnapping children. We think:

-BIll Guerin apparently has some sweating issues:

-The team has their Stanley Cup art updated in the locker room:

-While they do have a few reminders of their success last season in the lockeroom, Dan Byslma said they have made a consious effort to downplay it somewhat:
"We've added to our history. We're there was a Cup before, you'll see another Cup again. It's a part of our history, and now we're one of the 30 teams that's competing for the Stanley Cup again."
-Bylsma on Tyler Kennedy replacing Maxime Talbot on the second line:
"Tyler Kennedy probably skates a little bit better. I would say he has a little a more finish. Tenacity is a similarity. TK is getting older, has more experience and should be a little bit more comfortable with (Evgeni Malkin and Ruslan Fedotenko.)"
-Bylsma on lines combinations changing:
"I think there's a school of thought that says, 'Get everybody together on their lines and play them.' I think if you go to the end of the season and look back every year, you can see that doesn't happen due to injury or a trade. Things change and things are not going to stay the same. The lines won't stay the same all year long. As a coach I don't expect defensive pairings to play together the whole year. I don't expect lines to stay together the whole year."
-FInally, plenty of fans were gathered outside Gate 2 after practice:
