We're pretty sure this list doesn't really prove anything, but we found it interesting (Sorry, we're hockey geeks).
The following is a list of each team and the current and former captain they currently have on their training camp rosters. Each player is listed with the team(s) they captained:

The Canadiens, Islanders, Maple Leafs, Panthers, Sharks, Wild currently do not have captains.
In case you're wondering why there are tons of former Sabres and Wild captains strewn about the league, those teams have rotated their captaincy on a monthly basis in the past.
