Malkin out again; Rask to start - 03-18-10

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

Evgeni Malkin (right) will once again miss tonight's game in Boston. He is dealing with a bruised foot suffered  in Sunday's win  in Tampa Bay. He was injured when he was hit by a slap shot by teammate Kris Letang.

Malkin is the team' second leading scorer with 69 points (23 goals, 46 assists) in 62 games. He missed seven games back in Novermber due to a shoulder injury.

In other news:

-Tuukka Rask will get the start in net for Boston. He has a 16-9-4 record with a 2.09 goals against average and .928 save percentage. He has never faced the Penguins.

-As far all all this unpleasant business concerning Matt Cooke, the Bruins all seem more interested in getting two points than starting some sort of brawl (PG+).

-Eric Godard could be a game-time decision (PG+). He has missed 16 games due to a groin injury.

-Bruins forward Blake Wheeler and defenseman Dennis Wideman, and Johnny Boychuk are all game-time decisions due to illness. Former Penguins defenseman Andrew Ference, who has missed eight games due to a groin injury, could be asked to replace Boychuk or Wideman.

-Penguins CEO Ken Sawyer will retire Aug. 31. He will be replaced by team president David Morehouse. Sawyer has had a significant hand in seeing the team out of bankrupcy and through its negotiations in securing a new arena.
