Traffic advisory for fans going to the Backyard Brawl

Written by Colin Dunlap on .

Listen, Pittsburgh isn't Manhattan, but it ain't New Martinsville, either -- traffic can be a pain in the behind sometimes.

The day after Thanksgiving, when West Virginia plays Pitt at Heinz Field at noon, might be one of those times the city is difficult to navigate.

I'm just putting this in your ear (particularly those who don't travel here often) for planning purposes:

1. There is the normal Black Friday holiday shopping.

2. There is that aformentioned Backyard Brawl, kicking off at noon.

3. And, yes, there is a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game at 1 p.m. at Consol Energy Center that day.

4. Just an educated guess here -- PennDot will have an orange barrel or closed lane somewhere between the place in which you depart and your destination.

Safe travels.
