Duquesne coach Ron
Everhart announced the signing of 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward Derrick
Martin to a National Letter of Intent.
Martin averaged 14 points, 15 rebounds and 7.0 blocks per game this season at Flora MacDonald Academy in Red Springs, N.C.
"Derrick is a great kid with a tremendous upside,"
Everhart said. "He's a shot blocker and rebounder with the ability to
step out and shoot the 3-pointer. I'm thrilled to have him as part of
our program. He's a great fit for our style of play."
Martin attended George Washington Carver High School
in Montgomery, Ala. before moving on to Flora MacDonald Academy. He was
also being actively recruited by UTEP and UAB.
Martin is the fourth member of the 2010-11 recruiting
class, joining guards T.J. McConnell and Mike Talley, who signed with
Duquesne during the fall early-signing period, and guard/forward Jerry
Jones who signed this spring.
