Harrison had it wrong.

Ben Roethlisberger and Peyton Manning (rear) practice for the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl.

... Ben Roethlisberger doesn't need to "stop trying to act like Peyton Manning,"as he said in his infamous rant in Men's Journal magazine. Roethlisberger is already as good as Manning. Or very, very close to it.

Sports Illustrated picked up on a statistical comparison done by Cold, Hard Football Facts and it indicates that not only do the two quarterbacks stack up, but that James Harrison doesn't know how lucky he is.

Ian Roderick writes:

Beyond the question of whether Harrison was wise to publicly denounce a teammate, there is the question of whether Harrison was correct.

Is Peyton Manning a demonstrably better quarterback, and are the Pittsburgh Steelers overpaying for Ben Roethlisberger’s services?
The answer in both cases is no: Manning is not demonstrably better than Roethlisberger and the Steelers are not overpaying for Big Ben, at least if Manning's contract is the yardstick by which we measure "overpaying."

Roderick goes on to compare Roethlisberger and Manning in passer rating, passing yards per attempt and running with the football.

Then of course, there is the obvious 2 to 1 comparison:
