So many, that the game is in danger of a television blackout in the Tampa area.
Anecdotally, I know of dozens of Steelers fans headed to the game just from reading Facebook statuses of friends and acquaintances. I sent email to some of the Florida chapter presidents of the Steel City Mafia, and they indicated that scores more of their members are headed to the game as well. One chapter will have a Steelers Eve party Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at O' Briens Pub in nearby Brandon, FL and are taking 20 carloads of Steelers fans to the game.
Steelers fans nearly always turn out en masse at away games, but even with a surprise 2-0 start, the Bucs inability to get their own fans through the gate suggests that this could be nothing short of a full-scale Black & Gold invasion. (And it sure felt like a home game the last time the Steelers were in Tampa)
If you're going, you'll certainly feel at home at Tank's Tap Room -- a terrific beer bar not far from the stadium, owned by Chris "Tank" Jaksec, a Johnstown native. Tank's put the flyer below up on their website for this weekend, which leaves little open for interpretation:
