No, the little ones won't do Oklahoma drills, complete the run test, stand on a table and belt out their elementary school alma mater during dinner, or carry James Harrison's pads, although all the above would be funny to watch.
Rather, the Steelers will "host the Gatorade Junior Training Camp on Friday, August 6, prior to the team’s night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium," the team said in a release today.
The camp will run from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Latrobe Parks and Recreation Field, which is adjacent to Memorial Stadium. The camp is free to all children between the ages of 7 and 14. The kids will participate in non-contact drills and receive pep talks emphasizing responsibility, teamwork and sportsmanship, and the camp will highlight basic health and fitness training for kids and the importance of the proper nutrition.
The session can hold up to 250 children, and registration is first-come, first-serve registration, and the team expects that registration will close quickly.
