Resigning Pope

Problems with the Catholic Church aside, even Benedict XVI, the first Pope to resign in 600 years, recognizes that if you are not fit for a job, then it's time to step aside and let someone else give it a try. I wish our dysfunctional government lived by those same standards.

The Supreme Court is weighing in on the Voting Rights Act. The conservatives on the bench feel we no longer need it. Well, they clearly have been living in a bubble. Otherwise, they would have seen all of the attempted voter ID laws and gerrymandering by GOP-led states, all used to disenfranchise African American voters.

Mitt Olympics

It is the longest of shots, but Pittsburgh may have a chance to get the Summer Olypmics for 2024. We don't currently have enough hotel rooms or sports arenas or cash. We're going to need about $3 billion. Maybe if we get an Olympic savior like Mitt Romney to help us ... I hear he has some time on his hands.
