Cartoon Delegate: A Video Sketchbook From The Conventions
In August and September of 2012 I travelled to Tampa and Charlotte to cover the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. This time out I decided to challenge myself to push the envelope and do something different. In collaboration with the ToonSeum, I started an Indiegogo campaign to help fund my trip and help fund the creation of a mini-documentary about the trip. My blog entry from August 24th, 2012 explains the project.
Aside from my ususal sketchbook and pens, I also took a Flip Cam to shoot video footage. I sent back sketches and short videos highlighting each day that I was there. Upon my return I sat down for several exit interviews where I talked about my creative process, my career as a cartoonist and what it was like covering the election and the conventions.
The result is a 27-minute mini-documentary called Cartoon Delegate: A Video Sketchbook From The Conventions. Thanks to all of my Indiegogo donors who made this possible. Enjoy the video!
