Complicated grief

Written by Susan Mannella on .

We have read with great interest the recent series of reports in the PG on mental health issues in returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan ("A Soldier's Heart," Nov. 7-10), such as post-traumatic stress disorder and clinical depression, both of which entail great suffering and yet are treatable.

Many veterans also may suffer from prolonged grief, complicated by depression. The losses of health and of comrades become occasions for prolonged or complicated grief, making it difficult for them to come to terms with their loss and to move on with their lives.

We have an interest in educating those with prolonged or complicated grief and in being of service to them. For more information about our program, please contact us (412-246-6006).
