Pa. voters should be taking to the streets
I read with interest your story about Iraqi protesters in Karbala taking to the streets in protest of the Maliki regime, chanting, "We don't vote for people who steal public money" ("Iraqi Shiites Protest Maliki's Government," Dec. 28). Why don't the residents of Pennsylvania act in the same way?
I am referring to, among other things, walking-around money. It is a slush fund controlled by legislative leaders who give disbursements to individual lawmakers for pet projects. A reasonable person might ask, "What are the odds this money is used to grease political wheels?"
Another might answer, "Roughly 100 percent, give or take."
