Call for food aid
It is wonderful to be reminded that there are still local heroes who look out for those less fortunate in their neighborhoods. The postal workers who helped Lucille Zolkoski in Polish Hill ("Postal Employees Buy Woman Food," March 18) set an example for all of us, in both compassion and in taking action.
After we read the PG story, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank also swung into action, tracking down Ms. Zolkoski's information and contacting our member agency in that area, the Jubilee Food Pantry, and now Ms. Zolkoski will receive food every month, delivered directly to her home.
The food bank stands ready to help those who need food in Pittsburgh and throughout the region. If you have a neighbor or family member who doesn't have enough food, please call the food bank's "Get Help" number, 412-460-FOOD, ext 456.
