A terrible injustice
Nine months ago when a Port Authority bus driver was charged with molesting a boy on a moving bus, the local media jumped on the story. Recently, a court set the record straight -- the alleged molestation never happened ("Bus Driver's Charges Tossed Out," April 15). To the local media's credit, the court's finding of not guilty on all counts has received coverage as well as the truly amazing reason for that finding -- that the tape purportedly showing the molestation shows no such thing! What small comfort this must be to an innocent man and his family now scarred by the hell they have been through.
We now know there wasn't any story nine months ago, but there is a story now. The story now is why the Port Authority fired the driver, why the police brought such nonevidence to District Attorney Stephen Zappala and why the district attorney decided to prosecute. Shame on all of them!
