Parties' gridlock

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Go, Obama! President Barack Obama in his State of the Union address spoke from the heart and touched the core issues that need to be changed to get this country moving again. Both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are to blame for the gridlock and dysfunction of our legislative branch of government.

The Democratic pandering to special interests created a health care bill process that was a nightmare. The self-serving use of the filibuster and lack of leadership (i.e., not offering any new ideas) by Republicans is a disgrace. Both parties should be ashamed of their actions. As President Obama suggests, both parties need to take a good hard look at themselves. The American citizens are becoming very impatient with their inability to get anything done. Compromise is not a bad thing!
