Protects freedoms

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

I was shocked by the naivete of Edith Bell of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom ("I Object to My Tax Money Funding Violence," April 15 letters). She is protesting that her tax dollars are used to fund our military. If she has ever bothered to read our Constitution she would know that the primary responsibility of our government is the protection of the citizens.

If it weren't for our military and the freedoms that good men fought and died for, she would not have the freedom to write her blather in a letter to the editor. If the Islamic terrorists whom we are currently fighting ever succeeded in imposing their Shariah law on us, she would have absolutely no rights, as a woman. Someone once said that "freedom isn't free." It was true when it was said and it is true today.
