Weekend traffic intelligence report
It bears repeating: the big enchalada when it comes to weekend road work is the full closure of the westbound side of the Parkway East in Downtown Pittsburgh.
There are some other things to watch out for.
Inspection on the ramp leading from the northbound Veterans Bridge to Route 28 will shift traffic from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Work to inspect the southbound ramp from the Fort Duquesne Bridge to the Fort Pitt Bridge, aka the Portal Bridge, will close its left lane from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Traffic will be stopped on northbound Route 28 in Millvale for up to 15 minutes at a time from 8 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday during installation of barrier.
Work to apply protective sealants on the Interstate 79 Neville Island Bridge will occur on the southbound bridge from the Deer Run Road on-ramp to midway across the structure. The ramp will remain open. The left lane and shoulder will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Crews will also work on the ramp from northbound I-79 to Neville Island (Exit 65). The ramp will remain open with traffic shifted around the work area from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The ramp from Washington Place to Bigelow Boulevard, Uptown, will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and the HOV lanes on the Parkway North also will be closed during that time for expansion dam replacement.
