Hacker movies
Caught two old hacker movies on TV this week, among two of the best I think.
First was Sneakers with Robert Redford and Sidney Poitier. Although released in 1992, it has held up well except for a few things, like no one has flat-screen monitors.
The second was Live Free or Die Hard with Bruce Willis and Justin Long (who played the Mac on Apple commercials). The plot fo the 2007 movies, a cyberattack on the U.S
utility grid is certainly current enough.
It seems that every Hacker has to have the character of the ubergeek, a talented hacker with no social skills and odd obsessions. In Sneakers it was Dan Ackroyd as Mother. In Live Free or Die Hard it was actor/director Kevin Smith as the Warlock.
