Kindle app works

Just tried the syncing on the Kindle app by reading the same book on two android phones and it worked perfectly. Now I need to get it to work between my phone and my Kindle. Maybe both have to be on at the same time but it seems that when you close the book it should store your position to the cloud and then send it when you open the book on another device.
