The people who pull the wagon at PHCA and have been making lots of fun things happen in that hillside neighborhood for the past few years liked the idea of replicating the success Braddock has had with its community bread oven, which is depicted at left in a photo by the P-G's Pam Panchak.

Susan Constanse, the PHCA's staff person, said the impetus for the oven is to bring people together, "to bake bread, pizzas, traditional Polish recipes, and to gather around a fire and share stories." PHCA has brouht people together via an annual art show in the streets and community gardening projects. Now they want to create delectable aromas.

"Once it is built," she said, "the oven will be open to all members of the community."

They're scouting locations as we speak, so to speak. Check out this and other doings on P-Hill at www.blogski.phcapgh.org
