Food pantry in dire need

The North Side Community Food Pantry is in dire need of donations tomorrow.

Neighborhood volunteers have helped fill work slots and now there’s a need to fill the shelves. Volunteer Darlene Rushing reports that as of this afternoon, there was one can of peaches on the shelf.

The pantry is part of the Pleasant Valley Shelter and Northside Common Ministries at 1601 Brighton Road, and donations can be dropped off tomorrow, Saturday, from 8a to 1.30p.  The pantry is open Monday through Friday from 8.30a to 12.30p.  If you are facing the building, the pantry door is on the left side and goes to the basement.

Here’s what they need:

Canned fruit, canned vegetables (except green beans and corn), canned pastas with meat, canned tuna, salmon and chicken, boxes of dry potatoes, stuffing, macaroni and cheese, bags of dry beans, jams and jellies, pasta sauce — but there is plenty of pasta —boxes of gelatin and pudding, cake mixes, cookie mixes, any desserts that are made from a box, toilet paper, paper plates, plastic tableware, paper towels, paper napkins.

Please do what you can.
