Eric Lidji of Bloomfield is a 29-year-old freelance journalist who writes articles for trade publications about energy. He is also is creating an alternative newspaper on the walls at the Assemble gallery, 5125 Penn Ave. in Garfield.

He calls it a “pop-up community newspaper” that people can read at Assemble through the rest of this month, including at an open house on Thursday that starts at 7p.

Gallery hours are 4 to 9p Tuesday through Thursday, 4 to 11p Friday and 10a to 4p Saturday

The Assemble Daily News focuses on fleeting moments, and all the “articles” are drawings, he said.

“I go out every day and walk around a three mile circle of this area and find little incidents that happen, things you would tell people about, and I go home and draw them and post them on the wall so people can see what’s happening.”

The paper opened with Penn Avenue's Sept. 7th Unblurred event and it has been growing every day.
