New chapter in St. Nick saga (updates)

The saga of the former, vacant St. Nicholas Church on Route 28 continues, and it’s about time for wagers on how this thing will come out... and when.

You might have seen in Breaking News today that a Common Pleas Court ruling has overturned the Historic Review Commission’s denial of what amounts to the parish’s wish to demolish the building. The parish hoped to get a certificate of economic hardship but the commission didn’t grant that, so the parish appealed and now the court orders that it get its certificate within a month.

But the city plans to appeal.
