No Lights at Hartwood Acres

Allegheny County has pulled the plug on the Hartwood Acres Celebration of Lights this Christmas season. The county was paying the bulk of the event's $1.5 million cost, said County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, and had not gotten a committment for this year from the event's main sponsor, UPMC.

The event had gone on for the last 20 years and featured more than 2 million lights. It has raised almost $4 million for charities.
