Not many playgrounds inspire chart-topping rap albums, but most playgrounds aren’t Blue Slide Park. Located in Frick Park at the intersection of Beechwood Boulevard and English Lane, the playground is named for its blue slide carved into the hillside, best enjoyed while riding on one of the flattened pieces of cardboard that are usually strewn nearby.
There’s also a toddler-designated play structure (with zero holes for little kids to fall out of!), baby and big kid swings, a multi-level castle-themed playground complete with drawbridge and more. Kids who make it to the to top of a climbing structure at the park’s top level even get a view of Downtown. The park is also good for kids who love dogs, as there’s a constant parade of canines on their way to Frick’s dog parks and trails.
The giantness of the park has its drawbacks: It’s hard to see one level from another, and those with multiple children may have trouble keeping track of them. Parking can also be tight on sunny days and weekends.
