Fox Chapel Franco's Returns in a New Location

Written by China Millman on .

Maria Vlahos and Maureen Kolar, long-time employees at the Fox Chapel Franco's (now closed), are opening a new branch of the restaurant in Harmar Township (2501 Freeport Road, 15238) sometime this May. They've remodeled the building, formerly the Three Amigos, and described the design as "a real Tuscan look."

This Franco's is not to be confused with the Franco's Trattorias in Dormont and Peters Township which are still owned and run by Joseph and Gina D'Amico. Joseph D'Amico's father, Franco, sold the Fox Chapel restaurants to Frank Gaccetta in 2000.

Frank Gaccetta will be the kitchen manager/chef at the new Franco's in in Harmar. Vlahos and Kolar hope that other former Fox Chapel employees will also join them.

"We're going to have a lot of the older stuff and a lot of new stuff as well," said Vlahos. Within a few months of opening, they plan to have a small gluten-free menu, alongside the regular menu.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week for dinner, and possibly lunch. The dining room can seat up to 120 people and there's a semi-private room that can seat up to 30. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible.

Note: This post previously incorrectly identified the location of the restaurant - it is in Harmar Township.
