One of many reasons to grow oak leaf hydrangeas

The giant leaves of oak leaf hydrangeas explode with color for late fall show.
There aren't many shrubs which can hold a gardener's interest year round, but this one sure does.
In the summer the plant produces beautiful conical white blossoms which fade to pink. The flowers will put on a show for months.
Next is the leaf change to stunning crimson.
Over the winter, the bronze exfoliating bark is set off against white snow and the deer don't like it...at least in my garden.
This is a great time to find a few of the shrubs at a nursery as they are usually on sale.
Below is one of my favorite new hydrangeas,'Doublicious.' I'll be interested to see how it performs next season. This plant captivated me with wondrous double pink blooms which fade to a deep red.
It love those hydrangea blooms with white mums in the background.
'Doublicious' is my new favorite hydrangea, we'll see how it does over the winter.
