Nature's surprise, consider the lily
Nothing beats the fragrance of a lily. To smell it in fall is a real treat. Photo by Doug Oster
One of the things I love about gardening are the surprises. They can be good or bad, but this one is wonderful.
This pretty, fragrant white lily popped up a few months late. Usually they bloom in July, but it's a welcome sight to see this summer flower.
The sweet, intoxicating aroma takes me back to the hot, dry days at mid-season.
When all the amazing lilies blooming during the summer, this one would of been overlooked.
This flower is the star of the bed for fall.
I could use more surprises like this one in the garden.
