One Sunday a month I team with my radio partner Jessica Walliser at all four Giant Eagle Market District stores for a free gardening and cooking demonstration. That's where I met Maria Comos, she comes and sees us at the Bethel Park store. She showed me a picture of a clematis gone wild and I wanted to share the story with you. Here's what Maria had to say about it-
I bought this plant from a member of a local garden club at the May Market a few years ago. I planted it next to my deck near a trellis hoping that it would soon fill out the trellis. It's long outgrown the trellis, and it now takes over a pine tree that was planted about 10 years ago. When I bought my house, a few people suggested that I take the pine tree out, but I couldn't do it because it was a gift to the previous owner from his daughter. So that pine tree is now the foundation of Mt. Clematis. I took this picture while standing on the deck. It fills the air with a wonderful smell this time of year!
Sweet Autumn Clematis is an amazing plant, remember to give it room to ramble...and ramble...and ramble!
