Colors only nature can create; Green June Beetle
I think this is a Green June Beetle, I love the colors. Photos by Doug Oster
So I'm sitting watching the birds and I not only see this guy, but I can hear him buzzing too. This is the beautiful Green June Beetle (I think), and I just had to shoot some pictures of the insect.
It's a common bug and the metallic green colors are stunning.
Since I don't know much about bugs, I did a little research. Technically the Green June Beetle is a bad bug. In its larval state, the worm can damage turf grass. But they mostly feed on decaying organic matter though, so I'm not worried.
They are rather clumsy, this one had a heck of a time turning back over after flipping on its back.
Just another marvel of nature. Spend some time sitting in the garden as summer fades. You might be surprised at what you see.
No insects were harmed in the making of this blog post, I just let it go where I found the little guy.
