Hummingbird at rest in the garden
I love watching hummingbirds, especially when I can see one perch. Photo by Doug Oster
I've seen this ruby throated hummingbird here and there in the garden. The bird flits from flower to flower in constant motion. Today I was taking some pictures in the garden and watched it fly between a bed of purple phlox and a rose.
The tomato patch is between the two and at one point I watched as the hummingbird perched on a wire which the plants will eventually cover. It's not very common to see them perch, but if you watch them long enough, you'll see the bird rest.
I'm going to be keeping my eyes out for the bird, I want to get a nice photo of it enjoying the flowers.
