A star is born; baby wrens are cute
During a heatwave in June, I opened up the glass vents in my greenhouse.
A couple days later I saw a Carolina wren in there building a nest in an empty hanging basket.
Once it started building the nest, I didn't want to close the window, figuring the bird would keep trying to get in.
I watched as the nest was built and the female sat on the eggs for a couple weeks.
My greenhouse is attached to the master bedroom, so I could keep tabs on the status of the bird from a window in the door which connects the rooms.
Once they hatched the female and male were flying in and out to feed the babies.
This week's Digging with Doug video will highlight the wrens with some footage of the feeding.
Since I shot this picture, the babies have flown the coup and the fledglings are on their own.
Nature is wondrous, being lucky enough to get a close look at it every once and while is amazing.
