Fuchsia, killing it slowly by my hand

The lesson of humility is often taught by the garden.

I think that's one of the wonderful things about the hobby. Even though I've been at if for a lifetime, there are things I struggle to grow.

Fuchsia is one of those plants(along with onions).

Last year I bought two hanging baskets, transplanted them to bigger containers and within a week they looked sickly remaining that way all year. One actually overwintered in an unheated greenhouse, which means the plant is no wimp.

I could resist the beauty of the plants in hanging baskets at the nursery this season either.

I know better, I'm going to kill them, but I bought them anyway.

There's just something about those flowers which makes me try again and again.

If the two recent hanging baskets, one looks fine, the other dismal. This year I'm trying to keep them on the wet side, but I was out for a week and I think one might of dried out.fushia_25_0612

A little humility is good for everyone, but I'm trying everything I know to keep these plants happy for the summer.

This fuchsia plant looks happy, I hope it stays that way.
